On 5th June, 20 Ways to Break Free from Trauma and I visited Bury St Edmunds and enjoyed a delightful encounter with 40 ‘Sams’ volunteers, Did you know that there are over 250,000 Samaritans volunteers in the UK who take roughly 42,000 calls annually? We were able to discuss how trauma manifests and they particularly enjoyed my ‘trauma top tips’, including approaching a new person with curiosity and imagination. Samaritans is a wonderful organisation and this group were engaged and gave me and the book a warm reception.
